2020 MDU Photo competition

A lot has changed for medical students and foundation doctors since the beginning of the pandemic.

Many of you had to adapt to different ways of learning, have had exams and electives cancelled or started your careers in very challenging circumstances. 

We’d like our photo competition to reflect your daily life during the pandemic. Share photos or videos that show the following:

  1. Home learning – what does your work set up look like? Share with us your study routine, favourite books and digital resources. What are you revising at the moment? Be creative!
  2. Working as a foundation doctor - Share your experiences on the wards (no patient images please!). Take a snap or a video of you wearing PPE or enjoying a well-deserved break. You could also tell us how your first shift went or how you’re adjusting to your new role.

You could win an £80 gift card.   

How to enter

Follow us, post your picture, video or story on Instagram using the hashtag #MDUCovid19Diaries and tag @themdu_ If your account is private, follow us and accept our follow back request so we can see your entry. If you don’t have an Instagram account you can send your entry by email to photos@themdu.com. You have to be an MDU member to enter. 

Prize

An £80 gift card (your choice of Amazon, John Lewis or M&S).

Judging

Our judging panel will pick a winner every two months. Winners will be notified by private message on social media or email. The competition results will be posted on the MDU Student Facebook page, MDU Instagram, and MDU Twitter account. Winning entries may be used in MDU or DDU publications.

Guidelines

  • The competition is open to MDU student members enrolled at a UK medical school and foundation doctors.
  • You can only submit one entry per judging period.
  • Entries cannot display confidential information on computer monitors, books or notes on desks.
  • Entries cannot contain patients’ images, clinical descriptions of any kind or children under 16 years old.
  • Pictures or videos taken on wards should not include any sensitive information displayed on whiteboards or photos with patients’ family members in the background.
  • Entries cannot contain products or service endorsements.
  • Please ensure you have the permission of all subjects in the photo before submitting your entry. 
  • Entries must be your own work and appropriate for us to publish. They should not contain material which is in any way unlawful, obscene or defamatory or which infringes the rights of a third party.
