NICE has published draft recommendations from NICE on the use of cannabis-based medicinal products. This comes after a comprehensive evaluation of their clinical and cost-effectiveness, and last year's re-classification allowing specialist doctors to prescribe them in specific circumstances.
NHS Improvement publishes new patient safety strategy
The new patient safety strategy was preceded by a consultation, to which the MDU responded, and includes a number of medico-legally relevant sections on clinical negligence, patient safety, medical examiners and more.
Notification of Death Regulations 2019
The new notifications were laid on 15 July and come into force on 1 October. They are made under S18 of the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 and relate to the requirements for medical practitioners to notify a death to a relevant senior coroner.
NHS Resolution guidance promoting a 'learning and just culture' to improve patient safety
The guidance aims to help the NHS create an environment to better support staff when things go wrong and to encourage learning from incidents. NHS Resolution received 317 claims valued at close to £27.5 million in the past four years relating to staff stress and bullying in NHS trusts.
Measles cases continue to rise
