You can rest assured that HCA has chosen the UK’s leading medical defence organisation to protect you, as a Resident Doctor, against clinical negligence claims.
This provision started on 1 November 2020 and means that HCA has indemnity through the MDU for any clinical negligence claims made against an individual Resident Doctor.
This indemnity however does not include individual professional support for GMC investigations, disciplinary hearings, coroners inquests and patient complaints. You can apply for this support by upgrading your membership with the MDU or applying for membership if you are not currently an MDU member. This is offered at a reduced subscription to HCA Resident Doctors and the annual membership fee for this additional support is £50.
Already an MDU member?
Upgrade your current MDU membership to include professional support for your work at HCA. In most cases, this can be included within your current subscription, but we will contact you to advise if any additional subscription is due.
New to the MDU?
If you are currently not an MDU member, you can apply for upgraded membership for just £50. This will entitle you to market leading support, guidance and defence for medico-legal issues relating to your HCA work.
