NEW: Overview of data protection legislation (UK GDPR and DPA 2018) in primary care

This e-learning module is part of our series on information governance and will give you an overview of data protection legislation in the UK, in particular the Data Protection Act 2018 and the UK General Data Protection Regulation.

By the end of this module, you should:

  • be aware of the legislation governing handling of personal data
  • know what constitutes personal data and special category data
  • understand the roles of data controller, data processor and data protection officer
  • understand the data protection principles and data subject rights and how to comply with them
  • know how to handle requests to alter personal data.

This course is aimed at GPs, practice managers, senior administrators and anyone else who has responsibility for personal data.

The module uses examples and interaction questions to guide you through and help consolidate your learning, with a short quiz at the end to check your knowledge and understanding.
