I've had an enquiry from the press

dealing with the media
  1. Tell the journalist that your duty of confidentiality prevents you from commenting. Even confirming someone is a patient can be a breach of confidentiality.
  2. Journalists may contact administrative staff for information too. Advise other staff to make no comment.
  3. Be wary who you give information to. Journalists may not always clearly identify themselves.
  4. Do not say anything 'off the record'.
  5. Contact the MDU as soon as possible on 0800 716 646 for advice on handling media attention.
  6. Read our quick guide on dealing with the media for more information.
