Don't ignore it, as they may assume you don't object. Instead, politely but firmly ask them to stop, making clear that the relationship is strictly professional and make a note of the conversation.
If the patient continues and you decide to end your professional relationship, you should tell them your decision and your reasons and ensure arrangements are made for the patient's continued care.
Keep a record of conversations and contact with the patient and seek immediate advice from us if you have concerns about a patient's behaviour.
