We recognise the extraordinary pressures on the NHS and on doctors at present. The BMA has published guidance on the contractual and employment aspects of taking part in strike action.
We appreciate that medico-legal concerns might arise from such plans - both for those participating and those not. The GMC has acknowledged a doctor's right to take part in lawful industrial action. The regulator also emphasises the importance of working with employers to plan as effectively as possible to maintain patient safety during the period of action.
