What should I do if a patient refuses to attend for a medication review?

The patient's choice makes it difficult to monitor their condition and is particularly concerning if they are taking high-risk drugs.

You remain responsible for any prescriptions you sign, and the decision on whether to stop or continue prescribing must be based on your clinical judgment as to the risks and benefits of either approach.

Explain your concerns to the patient, along with the possible consequences of their decision for their health. Ensure you have given them the information they need in a way they can understand, and keep clear records of your discussions and the reason for your decision.
