Introduction to the Mental Capacity Act

This course is an introduction to our mental capacity e-learning series for clinicians practising in England or Wales.

It covers:

  • an overview of the Mental Capacity Act and how it may be applied in practice
  • a summary of the five principles set out in the Act
  • differences in application between the Mental Capacity Act and the Mental Health Act.

Interactive questions and scenarios are used to see how these legal mechanisms can work in real life.

Estimated completion time is 10 minutes.

You don't need to finish the course all at once – you can save your progress and pick up where you left off whenever it's convenient.

Once you finish the course you'll be able to download a certificate of completion.
