Online subscription payments

UK members can pay subscriptions online. Here we answer some common questions.

What facilities are available online?

You can pay your outstanding balance by credit or debit card, set up an annual direct debit to pay your subscription in a single payment or request a form to pay by 10 monthly direct debit payments as a credit agreement provided by Premium Credit Limited.

Who can use the service?

The facility is open to most UK members with an outstanding balance and no direct debit already in place. If your subscription is payable in Euros we regret it is not possible to use the online service. Please phone 1 800 509 132 to arrange payment.

How do I pay my subscription online?

There are two ways.

  1. Go to themdu.com/subs - You will need to know your membership number, payment reference and outstanding balance
  2. Log in to the website and go to My membership. Then click on Summary.

Where can I find my payment reference?

The payment reference is a number unique to you and can be found in a number of places:

  • On page two of your renewal invitation under the Subscription details section
  • In the first paragraph on renewal reminders
  • At the top of most other letters sent from our membership department

What cards are accepted?

We accept Visa, Visa Debit (previously called Delta), Mastercard and Maestro (previously called Switch).

We do not accept Solo, American Express or Visa Electron.

Two signatures are required on my bank account, can I set up a direct debit online?

No, you can only set up a direct debit if you are the holder of the account you intend to use and no more than one person is required to authorise your account. You can however download a paper form from the website or alternatively phone our membership helpline on 0800 716 376 to request one.

I already have a direct debit arrangement in place but would like to change the details of it. Can I do this online?

No, if you need to make any changes to an existing direct debit please phone our membership helpline on 0800 716 376 between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday.

What is Verified by Visa/MasterCard SecureCode?

Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode are schemes designed to protect your card against unauthorised use when used on participating websites (including the MDU).

After entering your card details on the MDU website you may be taken to the secure Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode website for verification. This depends on whether your card issuer supports the scheme and also whether you have enrolled in it.

There was a system problem whilst using the service, how do I know if the payment has been made?

If you experience any difficulties when using the system, please phone our freephone membership helpline on 0800 716 376 between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday. We will be able to tell you if payment has been made.

Is there any additional fee for paying by credit card?

No, we do not charge any extra if paying by credit card.

Will I get written confirmation?

If you are renewing your membership, once your payment has been processed or direct debit set up, your renewal documentation including your membership card will be sent to you. If you pay by credit or debit card we will also send you a receipt.
