During 2024:

  • Our award-winning membership team received 105,000 calls with 81% answered within 20 seconds.
  • 100% of 95,000 emails and letters were responded to within five working days.
  • In 2024 we defended 80% of medical claims without a payment of damages.
  • Over 99% of member requests for help with medico-legal issues are supported (over a five-year period).
  • Our team of expert advisers, who are doctors and dentists themselves, answered more than 21,000 calls to our 24-hour advice lines. 
  • 99% of calls to our advice helplines were answered within 20 seconds – with the average call answered in just 10 seconds.
  • Of the GMC cases where our in-house legal team assisted with representations to case examiners, just 9% of cases were referred to a fitness to practise tribunal run by the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS).
  • In cases where our in-house legal team assisted members with representations to the GDC’s case examiners, just 12% of cases referred to a hearing. This is compared to a standard GDC outcome of 63%.
  • In 2024, we closed 80% of medical claims without a payment of damages. In dental claims, the figure was 53%.
  • City and Guilds group awarded us with a Princess Royal Training award for our membership induction programme, with colleagues in learning and development receiving the prestigious 2024 Membership Award.
