Why we are different: our experience - the MDU is led and staffed by doctors with over 1000 years' medico-legal/clinical experience
Over the last 10 years, we successfully defended over 81% of medical claims, making no compensation payments
Over 98% of calls to medico-legal advisers connected straight away during normal working hours
80% of GMC cases the MDU advisory department assisted with that closed in 2025, did so with no sanction or adverse finding by the GMC
Over the last 5 years we have supported nearly 1200 members with GMC investigations

Almost 700 seminars delivered to groups of doctors across the country in 2025
On a five-year comparison (2020 to 2024), the MPTS average outcomes were that only 26% of cases were concluded with no finding of impairment. Happily, the MDU’s solicitors’ positive outcomes were significantly better for the same period, at 52%.
